Bandits, bolts and arguments ...

Last night saw the first game for the rag tag bunch of miss fits. The scenario was the 'Bounty Hunting' one from the wilderness campaign booklet and is basically a meet and greet fight with the added complication of being shot at from the farm building in the middle of the table by a group of bandits. Once one warband runs off the bandits are captured and turned in by the winner.

My plan was simple, choose the side of the table where the building had no windows to avoid being shot at, wait until the opposition (Mutated Elf types) took the brunt of the crossbow bolts getting to me. Then send in the Oni (troll) to take some of them out and make them run away.

All went well until the second go when Chi and Sai (the two twin 'boyz') started having a go at each other.I grew to hate the animosity rolls during the game, never have so many 1s been rolled then followed by 1 or 6. The upshot was Chi got so annoyed at being called a scaredy  boy he ran so as fast as he could towards the enemy - which took him straight in front of the cross bow fire ... taking him out the game (don't worry he did recover). This was followed the next turn by Sai (obviously annoyed at his twin being taken out) rushing out as well. Meanwhile the rest of the group decided that waiting round was boring and hurled themselves at two unfortunate archers who didn't really stand a chance. The other elves split up, one half running around after Sai (who came to his senses) and P'anda (who was trying to cast a spell for most of the game) and the other half rushing towards the heavy boyz. Unfortunately this took them in front of the bandits fire arc and on the way they lost two characters which took them to their break point.

In a scene reminiscent of an old silent movie most the chase continued ... at one point Sai again turned round and gave them some lip, nearly getting caught. The two other groups stormed into each other just in time for the elves to take flight (they failed their rout test).

So with 8 bandits and equipment to cash in, plus a very good find of wyrdstone my boyz had done well. Chi wasn't really harmed at all (which caused another argument) and Dai Konjo (the Big'Un) took the two twins in to the weekly pit fight ... Again Sai ran off but this time it was useful as he got to reach the objective ... being taken down by a pirate (again he ended up OK so don't worry) it seemed prudent that the others just sat back and watched the two other groups beat each other up. We ended up getting some good advances and skills out of it and even managed to get another group of henchmen and used the crossbows to give us 4 ranged attack characters which can only be useful.

All in all I enjoyed the evening a lot more than I thought I would ... roll on the next round :)
